Von Roll Corona Shield 8001 (also known as CoronaShield P 8001) is a specialized air-drying varnish consisting of a modified phenolic resin matrix loaded with a high-density semiconductive pigment filler. This gray paint is engineered for high-voltage electrical insulation systems operating up to thermal Class F (155°C). Its primary purpose is to establish a reliable semiconductive layer at the slot exit of high-voltage coils, mitigating localized electrical field stress and safeguarding the primary insulation against destructive partial or corona discharges.

Strong Stress-Grading Characteristic: Efficiently controls and smooths out high electrical field strengths outside the stator core.
Thermal Hardening: Retains structural integrity and becomes hard after thermal aging, providing exceptional long-term voltage endurance.
High Compatibility: Fully compatible with epoxy anhydride insulation systems as well as various VPI (Vacuum Pressure Impregnation) and Resin Rich resins.

Viscosity (at 20°C): 1000 ± 100 mPa·s
Solids Content: 52 ± 3%
Flash Point: ≥ 14°C
Drying Time: Quick air-drying profile requiring approximately 30 minutes (at 23°C) between coats for full solvent release.

End Corona Protection: Applied directly to the extensions or slot exits of high-voltage coils within motors and generators (typically utilized for equipment designs of 6 kV and above).
Maintenance & Repair: Highly effective for repairing or restoring damaged voltage-grading and corona protection layers on the extensions or overhangs of existing high-voltage coils.
Versatile Manufacturing Processes: Suitable for both Resin Rich (RR) processed machines and Vacuum Pressure Impregnation (VPI) insulation systems.
