3M™ Scotch-Weld™ Epoxy Adhesive EC-3542 B/A FR is a lightweight, flame-retardant, two-component epoxy adhesive formulated for structural bonding in aerospace applications. This innovative adhesive utilizes 3M glass bubble technology to deliver a low-density solution (< 0.7 g/cc) that offers excellent strength-to-weight ratio, helping significantly reduce weight in aircraft interior structures. It cures quickly at room temperature, forming tough, impact-resistant bonds with high torque resistance.
The fast gel-time and rapid cure at room temperature allow for higher manufacturing throughput with minimal preparation time. The thixotropic, non-sagging formula enables clean vertical edge close-outs, panel forming, and vertical applications without dripping or running. The adhesive’s pumpable consistency allows precise application with pneumatic and automated dispensing systems, making it ideal for honeycomb potting, edge filling, and insert potting in aerospace components. It meets FAA 14CFR 25.853 (a) flame retardancy requirements.
