LOCTITE 407 TDS is a transparent, colorless to straw-colored ethyl cyanoacrylate adhesive. This one-part formulation requires no mixing, simplifying application processes. It delivers robust bonding across various substrates, notably excelling in applications demanding heat resistance. This product is a general-purpose solution for demanding industrial environments, ensuring reliable performance and long-term durability.
General Information of LOCTITE 407 TDS
LOCTITE® 407™ utilizes advanced cyanoacrylate technology. Its chemical base is ethyl cyanoacrylate, presenting as a low-viscosity liquid. This adhesive cures through atmospheric moisture, initiating a rapid bonding process. Full functional strength develops quickly. However, complete chemical and solvent resistance requires at least 24 hours of curing. The cure speed varies significantly with the substrate material and bond gap. For instance, mild steel achieves fixture in 10 to 30 seconds, while neoprene bonds in under 5 seconds. Thin bond lines accelerate the cure. Furthermore, activators can enhance cure speed for larger gaps, though testing is recommended to confirm bond strength. The LOCTITE 407 TDS provides comprehensive data on these performance characteristics, including detailed environmental resistance against motor oil, gasoline, and various solvents. This ensures long-term durability in challenging conditions. Proper storage between 2 °C and 8 °C optimizes product properties and shelf life.
