3M™ UV Activated Film 81100 is a UV-activated and curable film that offers semi-structural strength while handling like a pressure-sensitive adhesive (PSA). Supplied between two polyester silicone release liners, this clear, slightly yellow adhesive film forms precise bonds with minimal shrinkage and delivers excellent bond line visual appearance. It features high shear strength, high modulus, and a thin profile, making it a strong alternative to traditional bonding methods.
3M™ UV Activated Films and Tapes combine the benefits of three distinct bonding technologies in one adhesive solution. They offer stronger bonds than typical tapes, are easier to apply than liquid adhesives, and activate with light rather than heat. Prior to UV activation, these films and tapes behave like conventional PSAs—tacky, stable at room temperature, and easy to die cut for precision parts.
Once UV-activated, the adhesive develops bond strength at room temperature, reaching green strength within an hour and achieving semi-structural bond strength within 24 hours. These properties make the film an ideal solution for bonding small, delicate components where heat or high-pressure bonding is not feasible. Common applications include laptop track pads, fingerprint sensors, smartphone cameras, automotive displays, enclosure bonding, and heat-sensitive components.
With a film thickness of 100 μm and dual linered construction, featuring a clear 38 μm PET front liner and a clear 50 μm anti-static PET back liner, this product ensures versatility and clean application across various substrates with medium to high surface energy.
