Product Introduction
3M™ Structural Adhesive SA9820 is a two-part epoxy adhesive formulated for design flexibility in OEM automotive applications such as structural and chassis assemblies. Excellent for bonding carbon composites, it cures at low temperatures and delivers the mechanical performance of one-part adhesives, even on oily metals. Bonded substructures can be stored for up to two months before full curing, enhancing production flexibility.
Formulated for long storage and low cure temperatures, 3M™ Structural Adhesive SA9820 is ideal for bonding dissimilar materials such as carbon fiber and aluminum in automotive OEM structures and substructures. It cures well below the glass transition temperature at which the resin degrades in many types of composites.
This two-part epoxy adhesive provides the bond strength of a one-part adhesive. It can be oven cured at temperatures as low as 80°C (176°F) for up to 30 minutes, allowing for effective bonding of carbon fiber and other components to metals such as aluminum without distortion or resin degradation. It also enables room temperature curing for excellent handling before full cure. The adhesive has a work time of up to 40 minutes and supports flexible geo-fixing methods, including induction, infrared lamp, or oven curing.
3M™ Structural Adhesive SA9820 allows bonded substructures to be stored up to two months before full curing, offering excellent flexibility during production. Its non-sag, non-slump formula provides superior gap-filling properties and can be applied either manually or robotically, making it suitable for both low-volume and premium high-volume OEMs. The adhesive turns orange when properly mixed, serving as a clear visual indicator for quality control.
