3M™ Scotch-Weld™ Structural Adhesive Film AF 143-2 is designed for the bonding of honeycomb and metal-to-metal components where high strengths at 350°F (177°C) are required. It provides excellent performance across the -67°F to 350°F (-55°C to 177°C) temperature range.
This heat-curing, easy-handling adhesive film offers excellent shop handling properties, meeting a wide range of aerospace manufacturing specifications without imposing excess material costs. It provides high fracture toughness and peel strength under various environmental conditions and maintains bond strength from -67°F to 350°F (-55°C to 177°C). AF 143-2 is suitable for use in composite and metal solid panels as well as honeycomb sandwich fabrications.
AF 143-2 is compatible with 3M™ Scotch-Weld™ Structural Adhesive Primer EC-3917, ensuring optimal adhesion performance. The film cures at 350°F (177°C) and incorporates an embossed liner, making it easy to apply and process in shop environments.
Structural adhesive films reduce the need for rivets in aircraft structures, enabling innovative design flexibility. These thermosetting modified epoxy films bond various substrates, including metal, honeycomb, and composites.
