Product Introduction
3M™ Scotch-Weld™ Epoxy Adhesive EC-2214 Hi-Temperature NF (new formulation) offers high strength, superior temperature resistance, and rigid bond lines. Designed to bond metals, composites, glass, and some plastics, this high-performance adhesive features a new formulation that improves reactivity for consistent curing results. Its one-part formula requires no mixing and cures evenly for dependable bonding.
This dense, aluminum-filled adhesive is ideal for metal-to-metal bonding, exterior, and structural applications. Its smooth, high-density paste consistency allows for precise dispensing and neat bond lines with negligible shrinkage. The adhesive heat cures between 250°F and 300°F (121°C to 149°C) and performs well in operating temperatures from 180°F to 350°F (82°C to 177°C). It is also suitable for potting, encapsulating components, and strengthening honeycomb panels and structures, delivering void-free bond lines in both composite and metal bonding applications.

What Are Epoxy Adhesives?
3M™ epoxy adhesives belong to the class of structural adhesives, which also includes polyurethane and acrylic adhesives. Epoxies are formulated with reactive components that cure to form a solid plastic material. They are available in several formats to meet various processing needs:
- Two Part: Base and Accelerator stored separately for longer shelf life. These adhesives are available in duo-pak cartridges compatible with the 3M™ EPX™ Applicator System for simultaneous metering, mixing, and dispensing, or in bulk for larger operations.
- One Part: Pre-mixed adhesives shipped frozen and stored in freezers until use. Thawing is required before application.
- Adhesive Films: Pre-mixed, cut-to-size films requiring frozen storage, designed for easy placement into bond lines.
Two-part adhesives offer a limited working time after mixing, during which the adhesive can be applied and positioned. Similarly, one-part adhesives have a limited out time after thawing. These work times can range from a few minutes to over 48 hours.
Epoxy adhesives provide high shear and peel strength along with excellent environmental resistance. Known for their mechanical strength and chemical durability, epoxy adhesives can be tailored for flexibility or rigidity, varying flow rates, transparency, and curing speeds. Their superior strength makes them ideal for demanding bonding applications requiring durability and environmental resistance.
