Product Introduction
3M™ Scotch-Weld™ Epoxy Adhesive EC-2214 Hi-Temperature is a one-part, 100% solids, heat-curing adhesive designed for high-temperature metal bonding applications. With a pliable paste consistency, it stays in place with no sagging, making it easy to apply precisely where needed. This aluminum-filled adhesive delivers higher temperature strength compared to 3M™ Scotch-Weld™ Epoxy Adhesive EC-2214 Regular and maintains excellent structural strength at temperatures up to 350ºF (177ºC).
Formulated for smooth, clean bond lines, this product provides high strength and temperature resistance, especially on steel and other metals. It performs exceptionally well in temperature ranges between 180°F to 350°F (82°C to 177°C) and is ideal for applications requiring superior tooling properties to streamline production workflows.
3M™ Scotch-Weld™ Epoxy Adhesive EC-2214 Hi-Temperature can be applied using a spatula, trowel, or flow equipment. When warmed, it flows smoothly for precise dispensing and neat bonding. The adhesive cures at heat levels between 250°F and 300°F (121°C to 149°C), making it suitable for aerospace and industrial applications where production efficiency and performance are critical.

What Are Epoxy Adhesives?
3M™ epoxy adhesives belong to the category of structural adhesives, which also includes polyurethane and acrylic adhesives. These adhesives are formulated using reactive components (Base and Accelerator) that cure to form a solid plastic material. 3M provides epoxy adhesives in several formats to meet different processing needs:
- Two-Part: Base and Accelerator stored separately, offering long shelf life. These are available in duo-pak cartridges compatible with the 3M™ EPX™ Applicator System or in bulk. They allow precise mixing and metering at the point of use, reducing waste.
- One-Part: Pre-mixed and shipped frozen, these adhesives are thawed when ready for use, simplifying handling for time-sensitive projects.
- Adhesive Films: Pre-mixed adhesives converted into film form for direct placement into bond lines, available in various weights and thicknesses. These films are stored frozen and offer easy, clean application.
After mixing, two-part epoxy adhesives begin curing immediately, offering a limited working time for applying and positioning components. One-part adhesives also have a limited out time after thawing before they must be used. Depending on the formulation, work time can range from minutes to over 48 hours.
Epoxy adhesives are known for their high shear and peel strengths, excellent chemical and environmental resistance, and mechanical durability. Their versatility allows for customization in terms of flexibility, rigidity, transparency, setting speed, and curing conditions. As some of the strongest adhesives available, they are ideal for demanding bonding applications requiring long-term performance and strength.
