Chemtronics UR-101 UV Conformal Coating is a urethane-acrylic based composite that cures fully through ultraviolet (UV) light and moisture. A secondary moisture cure mechanism allows for the curing of unexposed areas of the coating within 2-3 days under ambient conditions. This product meets the stringent requirements of the industrial control electronics industry. Once solidified, it forms a dense protective film layer that is insulated, moisture-proof, dust-proof, and resistant to pollution and corrosive gases. It demonstrates excellent resistance to moisture, acids, alkalis, detergents, and chemical solvents. Chemtronics UR-101 is suitable for high-reliability hybrid integrated circuits, military aviation, maritime circuits, industrial electrical equipment, industrial instrumentation, telecommunications equipment, appliance controllers, and other electronic gas facility protections.

Application of Chemtronics UR-101 UV Conformal Coating
Brushing
For brushing application, use a high-quality brush that ensures no bristles or brush marks remain on the circuit board. This method prevents damage to both the circuit board and its components. Additionally, keep the plastic product tank closed and pour out only the necessary amount of the product, allowing it to stand outside before use.
Spraying
Spraying is primarily done using computer-controlled (atomized or curtain) selective spraying equipment. This equipment allows for selective coating only on areas of the PCB that require it. Choose nozzles suitable for the current viscosity and spray pressure according to the specific equipment instructions. Medium-viscosity coating adhesives typically yield the best coating effects. Ensure that the coating penetrates into the gaps of components and covers the edge positions of any connections. Spraying should be done smoothly from all angles.

UV Cure:
Chemtronics® UR-101 is a highly cross-linked coating. For maximum cross-linking density, the product must be exposed to the correct spectral output. Chemtronics has modeled the performance of UR-101 using Fusion UV curing equipment. The following table outlines the required dosage and irradiance values necessary to achieve a tack-free surface. The minimum figures should ensure a tack-free result, while the maximum recommendations represent the highest tested values by Chemtronics. Curing recommendations may change as technology develops. -
Moisture Cure:
Moisture acts as a secondary cure mechanism for areas that cannot be cured with light. The typical moisture cure time is 2-3 days at 25°C and 50% relative humidity (RH), but it can vary based on specific applications. Cure time is influenced by the humidity level, the amount of coating in shadowed areas, and the proximity of those areas to humidity. Coating trapped under large components may have an extended cure time. Exposure to heat (typically 65-80°C) and higher relative humidity will accelerate the curing process.
Clean Up
To clean equipment and remove uncured Chemtronics® UR-101, use non-alcohol-based solvents. Techspray® 61211 is recommended for this purpose.
