FOAMABLE ADHESIVE USED IN INSULATIVE FOAMING PROCESS FOR REFRIGERATOR
Nowadays, Foam-in-place adhesive system is used widely in a range of applications, such as automotive door handles and electronics. However, it is rare to know that FIP Sealant also plays an important role in the assembly of appliances. So how and why should appliance manufacturers use these materials in their fabrication?
1. How? Applications?
As we all know, many appliances industrial have the PU insulation process, after this PU is foamed, it could have the heat preservation, energy-saving effect. That’s why the refrigerator cabinet or refrigerator door has PU foam material.
When urethane foam is injected into the cabinet of a fridge or freezer during assembly, a chemical reaction occurs, causing the foam to expand. A foam-in-place adhesive is then used to minimize the amount of urethane thermal insulation foam that leaks out from this expansion. As a result, the system ensures the foam is contained within the cabinet of the appliance. This greatly decreased clean up time and improved productivity.
For dishwashers, foam-in-place adhesive systems are used in gaskets. Gasketing ensures water leakage does not occur when a dishwasher is running. This system can also be used for sound damping purposes.
2. Why?
With the application to prevent PU insulation leaking in the refrigerator, in comparison with the traditional method which using tapes, our FIP Adhesive is more preferred with the following benefits:
♦ Reduced labor cost and improve cycle time by using foam-in-place adhesive dispensing equipment system
♦ Reduced material cost because FIP adhesive has a significant feature: excellent foamability
♦ Reduced in-process inventory

Thermogrip H5211-02: This hot melt adhesive is an elastic material with excellent foamability and minimal tack, allowing for ease of clean up. As a result, it is an ideal option for appliance cabinet sealing.
Thermogrip H4318: Designed for refrigerator and freezer cabinet sealing applications, this hot melt pressure sensitive adhesive is formulated using a soft, elastic material allowing for ease of clean up and simple application.
Thermogrip H5068A: This foam-in-place cabinet sealing adhesive is specially used for french door fridges. The higher internal strength of this material resists more force placed on the product from the expansion of the foamed urethane (because the foamed urethane is expanding in a smaller volume/space compared to the whole fridge cabinet).
