3M™ Circuit Plating Tape 1278 is a polyester film tape with a specially formulated silicone-free adhesive for masking solder mask over bare copper (SMOBC) printed wiring boards during the gold tip plating process.
FEATURES
- Silicone-free adhesive which eliminates silicone removal.
- Low stretch polyester film for machine, as well as hand application.
- Solvent clean up of the board is recommended to facilitate subsequent soldering.
- High strength, stable polyester backing which provides even stop-off line.
- 2 mil adhesive coating thickness which is thick enough to help prevent leaking on a wide range of solder mask surfaces and thin enough for easy handling and removal from board.
- High strength adhesive which virtually eliminates adhesive transfer after tape removal.
APPLICATIONS
Masking of many SMOBC printed wiring boards during solder stripping and precious metal plating of fingers.
