This decision marks the end of an era for 3M’s specialized product lines as Novec coating, cleaning and cooling can be mentioned recognized Novec™ series—such as Novec™ 1700, 1702, 7100, 7200, 7300, 71DE, 72DE, 71DA, 72DA, 73DE, FC 3283, FC 40, among others—that have long been valued for their unique properties and applications across a range of sectors.

Description of 3M Novec 72DE Replacement – Coven FP2172DE
COVEN FP2172DE is a nonflammable fluid with no flash point that evaporates quickly without leaving any residues. It cleans electronics, optics, and metal parts efficiently without requiring additional rinsing. As a substitute for cleaners containing CFCs, HFCs, and other harmful chemicals, COVEN FP2172DE is ozone layer-friendly. Due to its azeotrope characteristics, it can cycle in a vapor degreaser while maintaining stable properties, and it does not react or corrode metals commonly used in vapor-degreasers. Additionally, exposure to COVEN FP2172DE is less hazardous than exposure to solvents like TCE, nPB, and Perc.
